DMP arrests 422, files 89 cases in 24 hrs

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in its regular drive, arrested 422 people along with arms and filed 89 cases in different parts of the capital over the past 24 hours till Thursday.

Among the arrestees, 44 were arrested by the Ramna Division of police, 19 by the Lalbagh Division, 55 by the Wari Division, 43 by the Motijheel Division, 82 by the Tejgaon Division, 96 by the Mirpur Division, 34 by the Gulshan Division and five by the Detective Branch (DB) of the DMP, said Niaz Mehedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP.

During the drive, police recovered 1,355 grams of hemp, 10,524 Yaba tablets, 53 grams of heroin, one shotgun, one knife, one iron rod, one screwdriver, one hacksaw blade, one laptop, one SSD, 15 mobile phones, 160 SIM cards, one private car, one truck, one school bag and Tk 2,880 in cash from the arrestees’ possession.

Legal action against the arrestees is underway, he added.
