Fakhrul calls for social movement against drugs

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today stressed the need for creating a social movement against drug abuse across the country.

“We want to build a social movement against drug abuse involving people of all views, regardless of their party affiliation,” he said.

Fakhrul, also the BNP secretary general, made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an anti-drug meeting here.

He said if drug abuse can be eradicated, many problems of the society will be solved. The incumbent BNP government is making all-out efforts to eradicate drug abuse from the country, he added.

Thakurgaon district administration organised the meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room this morning.

With Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Huq in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain, 50 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Akhlaq Hossain and Thakurgaon District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin.
