Muktar Hossain. Savar Correspondent. A job fair organised by the RAISE project implemented by the Social Upliftment Society (SUS) was held in a festive atmosphere in Savar in 2026. With financial support from the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the World Bank, this fair created employment opportunities for trained youth in various institutions. At the same time, an effective platform for direct communication between job seekers and recruiting companies was established.
On 28 July 2026, Tuesday morning, this job fair was held at the Baganbari Restaurant on Thana Road in Savar, with participation from about 365 trained young men and women. Among them, 158 trained young men and women secured jobs.
The event was presided over by Advocate Md. Nazrul Islam, President of the Executive Committee of the Social Upliftment Society (SUS), with the Chief Guest being Jaber Md. Soaib, Deputy Director (Acting) of the Local Government Division of the Dhaka District Commissioner’s Office. The main speaker was Dilip Kumar Chakraborty, General Manager (Operations) of the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and Project Coordinator of the RAISE project. Special Guest included Savar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Saiful Islam. The welcome speech was delivered by the Executive Director of the organisation, Hamida Begum. The event was conducted by Babul Morol, Coordinator of the RAISE project.
Speakers stated that creating skilled human resources and generating employment is one of the biggest challenges of the present time. The organisation of job fairs for trained youth through the RAISE project is a practical initiative for their entry into the workforce. The RAISE project plays a significant role in sustainable economic growth by enhancing the skills of youth in the informal sector and creating employment. An effective connection between training and employment has been established through the job fair.
The organisers reported that so far, 2,151 individuals have been brought under outreach activities through the RAISE project. 1,251 young entrepreneurs have received loans and training, 300 entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19 have received recovery assistance, and 800 individuals have been provided with technical training. Among them, 722 have already secured employment opportunities in various institutions. Additionally, the economic capacity of small entrepreneurs has been enhanced through training, business development, and loan assistance.
Young participants in the job fair described such initiatives as timely, stating that the opportunity to connect directly with recruiting companies after training has significantly increased their chances of getting jobs.
