Two people have been arrested with 3,000 pieces of Yaba in a large consignment of drugs in a special operation by the Kotwali Police Station in Rangamati. The market value of the drugs recovered is more than 7 lakh taka.
They were arrested in a drive conducted in front of the main gate of Mari Stadium in Rangamati city on Thursday (July 2) night.
On Friday, the district police said that 3,000 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from them in a drive led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Md. Jasim Uddin.
The arrested persons are Jalmon Chakma (49), a resident of Kutukchhari area of Rangamati Sadar Upazila, and Notun Babu (39), a resident of Dhoppachhara area of Bilaichhari Upazila.
Police said that the recovered Yaba drugs have been seized. The process of taking legal action against the two arrested under the Narcotics Control Act is underway. They have been handed over to the court after completing the necessary procedures.
