The government has placed 33 senior Bangladesh Police officers—including 14 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Additional Deputy Inspectors General (Additional DIGs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs)—into compulsory retirement. The information was announced in a notification signed by Senior Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury of the Police-1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday (July 5). Among those retired are 14 DIGs, 17 Additional DIGs, and 2 Superintendents of Police (SPs). The DIGs are: Molla Nazrul Islam, Saiful Islam, Miraj Uddin Ahmed, Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman, S. M. Mostak Ahmed Khan, Jihadul Kabir, Moinul Haque, Ilyas Sharif, Shyamal Kumar Nath, Zakir Hossain Khan, Shah Abid Hossain, Jamil Hasan, Mahbubur Rahman, and Md. Moniruzzaman. The Additional DIGs are: Barkatullah Khan, T. M. Mojahidul Islam, Anwar Hossain Khan, Moha. Moniruzzaman, Mehedul Karim, Alamgir Kabir, Rashidul Hasan, Sanjoy Kumar Kundu, Nizamul Haque Molla, S. M. Imran Hossain, Saidur Rahman Khan, Shamsunnahar, Saifullah Al Mamun, Khan Muhammad Rezwan, Sajid Hossain, Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, and Mashrukur Rahman Khaled. In addition, Superintendents of Police Molla Jahangir Hossain and Abdullah Aref have also been placed into compulsory retirement. The notification states that the retired officers will receive all retirement benefits in accordance with the service rules. It also says that the order, issued in the public interest, takes immediate effect.
