Rangamati Correspondent:- A person named Lakshmi Vilas Chakma (40) tragically died after being crushed under a tree that collapsed in Baghaichhari, Rangamati.
The incident took place on Tuesday (July 7) morning in the Lailaghona area of Ward No. 6 of Baghaichhari Municipality. The deceased Lakshmi Vilas Chakma was a permanent resident of the area.
According to local sources, Lakshmi Vilas Chakma was cleaning the roots of a tree on Tuesday morning when the tree suddenly collapsed on her. She died on the spot. Later, locals recovered her body.
Upon receiving the information, Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Marjan and police officers from the police station visited the scene and confirmed the truth of the incident.
Rangamati Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Aslam Sarwar said, “We are conducting miking with the help of the Fire Service, Red Crescent, Municipality and District Police and trying to take them to shelters. If the situation worsens, we will be strict if necessary, but those living in risky areas must go to shelters.”
