Mehedi Hasan, Savar (Dhaka): A. S. M. Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, has inspected the proposed site for the construction of the Integrated Upazila Land Complex in Savar. During the visit to the site, which is located adjacent to the Dhaka-Aricha Highway and owned by the Ministry of Land, the Senior Secretary announced that the project has already been approved in the ECNEC meeting.
Once constructed, this Integrated Complex will house both the Upazila Land Office and the Upazila Settlement Office under one roof, allowing citizens to access land surveying, mutation, and all other land-related services from a single point.
Office Inspection and Directives
Following the site inspection, the Senior Secretary visited the Savar Upazila Land Office and the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). He found all officials present on time and reviewed the overall activities of the Upazila Land Office.
During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner (Land) informed him that the land development tax collection drive is currently underway, with 100% of the general demand already successfully collected. The Senior Secretary directed the officials to ensure that citizens receive mutation and other land services smoothly and transparently, without facing any harassment.
Review of Digital Land Services and Data Entry
Later, he monitored the ongoing progress of holding and Khatian (record of rights) data entry, as well as the correction of errors in Khatians and holdings.
The Senior Secretary highlighted the following updates regarding digital land services:
- A joint initiative has been launched with UNDP Bangladesh to ensure 100% accurate entry of holdings and Khatians, alongside the correction of existing errors in the land service system.
- Pilot programs have already been successfully completed in 8 districts.
- Data entry for holdings and Khatians is currently underway in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Narayanganj districts.
- This digitized system will gradually be implemented across the entire country.
He expressed his satisfaction with the seamless execution of the data entry and correction process, adding that once the data entry is fully completed, the land service system will become more accessible, user-friendly, and fully automated for the public
