Pregnant Woman Stabbed to Death by Husband at Dhamoirhat Hospital in Naogaon, Husband Arrested

Naogaon Correspondent : A pregnant woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband inside Dhamoirhat Upazila Health Complex in Naogaon district on Monday (July 27). Police have arrested the accused shortly after the incident.

The deceased, Monira Begum (25), was the daughter of Masud Rana from Omorpur village in Dhamoirhat Upazila. She was the mother of two children and was pregnant at the time of her death.

The accused, Forhad Hossain (27), is the son of Helal and a resident of Atapara village under Panchbibi Upazila in Joypurhat district.

Dr. Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer of Dhamoirhat, said the couple had come to the health complex for a routine pregnancy check-up. During their visit, an argument reportedly broke out between them. At one stage, Forhad allegedly attacked Monira with a sharp knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds. She was declared dead by the on-duty physician.

The incident created panic among patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Upon receiving the information, Dhamoirhat Police rushed to the scene and arrested the accused husband.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mintu Rahman of Dhamoirhat Police Station said the motive behind the killing is being investigated. The body is being prepared for an autopsy, and legal proceedings are underway.
